Distance Learning Programs
 
The FASNY Museum of Firefighting currently offers distance learning programs to schools and community organizations. An overview of the programs follows below. If your school or organization has distance learning equipment (video conferencing capabilities) and would like to participate in a distance learning program with the Museum, which include fire safety and the science of fire classes, please contact the Museum staff at 518-822-1875 or email us your request using the "contact us” form on this website.


Fire Safety and Prevention with Firefighter Shaun
A Brief Overview:


Join Firefighter Shaun as he talks about fire safety and prevention and takes your class through his hazard house, teaches them about when to dial 9-1-1, when to stop, drop and roll, teaches them about tools and toys and other fire safety and prevention concepts. Firefighter Shaun finishes 
his program, which is filled with sound effects and fun, with a musical puppet show re-enforcing all of the concepts taught. 


Versions of this program are available for grades Pre-K-2.
Meets NY State Learning Standards. Program runs approximately 45 minutes.

The Science of Fire with Professor Sparks and Spot 2000
A Brief Overview:


Join Professor Sparks in his lab as he and his robot canine companion, Spot 2000, take your class through concepts such as the elements of fire, heat and fuel sources, chemical reactions, and much more. This fast pace program with music and sound effects will be an experience your class will not forget. For grades 3-4. Meets NY State Learning Standards for Science. Program runs approximately 40 minutes.
